Men's Lacrosse announces 2016 incoming class

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—The Birmingham-Southern men's lacrosse program welcomes 13 new faces to the team for the upcoming 2016 season.

The players hail from five different states, including New Jersey and North Carolina.

The incoming players for the 2016 season are:

Alex Bates
5-7 | GK | Vestavia Hills, Ala. | Vestavia Hills HS 
Two-time All-State honoree... U.S. Lacrosse All-American... National Honor Society and FCCLA member... Student Government Association member.

Blake Callahan
6-4 | D | Gulf Breeze, Fla. | Gulf Breeze HS 
Three-year letterman in lacrosse... two-year letterman in football for the Dolphins.

Joe Delozier
5-10 | D | Vestavia Hills, Ala. | Vestavia Hills HS
Two-time First-Team All-State... three-time AL-MS All-Star... two-time VHHS Lacrosse Defensive MVP... part of Bamalax Select and Atlanta Elite.

Zachary Mathews
6-0 | GK | Gulf Breeze, Fla. | Gulf Breeze HS
Two-year letterman for the Dolphins... two-time Team MVP... recorded 264 saves with a .600 save percentage... averaged 7.0 goals allowed with 18 wins... part of Team Florida, Gulf Coast Bandits, and Stars and Bars... also lettered in football and wrestling. 

Andrew McMahon
5-9 | M | Homewood, Ala. | John Carroll Catholic HS 
Four-year letterman... Team MVP... tallied 41 goals and 18 assists... picked up 116 ground balls... 26 caused turnovers... member of National Honor Society... John Carroll Ambassador... also lettered in basketball and cross country.

John Oates
5-9 | D | Charlotte, N.C. | Charlotte Latin School 
Four-year letterman in both lacrosse and football... helped lead the Hawks to four state titles... All-Conference... NC Great 38 All-Star. 

Cameron Pelletier
6-3 | D | Charlotte, N.C. | Cuthbertson HS
Team Captain... All-County... Union County Superstar... Honor Roll... Beta Club... also lettered in football and cross country for the Cavaliers.

Nelson Salem
5-8 | LSM | Leeds, Ala. | Briarwood Christian School
Four-year letterman in both lacrosse and basketball... three-time AL-MS All-State... two-time Presidential Award recipient... scored nine goals... member of Bridging the Gap. 

Tanner Schneider
5-9 | M | Roswell, Ga. | Roswell HS 
Two-year letterman... helped lead the Hornets to two Georgia Lacrosse state titles... recorded 46 goals and 17 assists... picked up 50 ground balls... Tom Zachary VIP Award recipient... received the Excellence in Pre-Calculus Award... member of Sierra Club and Flood.

William Seward
5-11 | M | Birmingham, Ala. | Oak Mountain HS 
Two-year letterman for the Eagles... member of the FBLA. 

Peyton Taylor
5-10 | A | Vestavia Hills, Ala. | Vestavia Hills HS
Recorded 160 goals and 65 assists in his career... Team Captain... helped lead the Rebels to the 2014 and 2015 state championship runner-up spot... First-Team All-State... AL-MS All-Star... Southern Combat Lacrosse All-Star... member of FCA.

Davis Thompson
5-8 | A | Mountain Lakes, N.J. | Mountain Lakes HS
Two-year letterman... earned the Tim Flynn Coach's Award... Honorable Mention All-Conference... helped lead the Lakers to the Group 1 state title twice... two-year football letterman... Lake Warrior Award and HERD Award recipient... Second-Team All-Conference football... helped lead the squad to two state championships... three-year letterman in wrestling... Second-Team All-Conference wrestling.

Greg Wallace
6-1 | A | Fairhope, Ala. | Bayside Academy 
Four-year letterman... also played football and ran track for the Admirals... holds every school receiving record... part of the Lower Alabama Bayhawks Club team.

The 2016 Panther men's lacrosse team opens action on Saturday, Feb. 6, hosting a Black and Gold scrimmage at noon. BSC will face Piedmont on the road for its first game of the regular season on Feb. 12, and then take on Colorado College at home on Feb. 14 at noon. For a complete schedule, click HERE.
