Big Second Half Pushes Panthers Past Wabash

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern men's lacrosse team defeated Wabash College 17-8 on Thursday night, improving to 4-2 on the year.

After a close, hard-fought first half that saw Birmingham-Southern go into the break with a slim 7-6 lead over the Little Giants, the Panthers offense exploded to outscore the visitors 10-2 in the final 30 minutes.

Nine different Panthers scored goals in the win, with freshman Carter McAlpin (Trussville, Ala./Hewitt-Trussville HS) and sophomore Mason Benner (Hoover, Ala./Hoover HS) leading the team with three goals each.

Senior Davis Thompson (Mountain Lakes, N.J./Mountain Lakes HS) also played a big role offensively, leading BSC with a game-high four assists. He also added two goals.

Birmingham-Southern will host Carthage in its next game on Saturday, March 9. The start time for the game is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Krulak Stadium.
