DANVILLE, Ky. – The Birmingham-Southern men's lacrosse team toppled Southern Athletic Association foe Hendrix College 19-13 at home on Saturday afternoon.
The Panthers and Warriors battled it out for the first 15 minutes but BSC created some separation, taking a 9-4 lead into the break.
BSC opened up the second half with a goal to go up 10-4, but the Warriors went on a goal-scoring run of their own, shaving the home side's lead to 11-10 going into the fourth and final quarter.
But just like the second quarter, the Panthers catapulted back to a comfortable lead, outscoring the Warriors 8-3 in the final 15 minutes to take the 19-13 victory.
Senior Peyton Taylor (Vestavia Hills, Ala./Vestavia Hills HS) and junior Taylor Carson (Birmingham, Ala./Mountain Brook HS) led the Panthers in the win, scoring four goals each. Taylor also added an assist.
Senior goalie Matt Quill (Fort Mills, S.C./Coker College) finished the game with 10 saves.
The win was BSC's first conference win of the season. With the victory the Panthers improve to 6-7 overall and 1-3 in the SAA.
Birmingham-Southern will host Oglethorpe in its next game on Friday, April 12 at 4 p.m.
