Nathan Young was hired as Birmingham-Southern's Assistant Men's Lacrosse Coach in July 2013.

Young comes to the Hilltop from Young Harris College (NCAA Division II) in Young Harris, Ga., where he was the Assistant Coach for the inaugural season of men's lacrosse in 2013. Prior to YHC, Young was in Rome, Ga., where he started the men's lacrosse program at Shorter University (NCAA Division II). In Shorter's inaugural season in 2010, the Hawks went 7-3 with an undefeated home record. Young accumulated a .585 winning percentage at Shorter, and two of his assistants went on to become Division II head coaches.

Prior to his stint at Shorter, Young also started the Tennessee Wesleyan (NCAA Division II) program, posting a .500+ winning percentage and advancing to the conference playoffs in consecutive seasons. He coached 10 All-Conference players as well as two All-Americans and a Player of the Year.

In 2008, Young had the privilege of serving as Assistant Coach for the USA Athletes International (USAAI) National Team, traveling to Europe to play in the Berlin Open and the Prague Cup. He and the team returned stateside with trophies from both tournaments, going 6-0 in Prague and 7-0 in Berlin.

Young began his coaching career in the high school ranks, leading his alma mater Lyman High School (Longwood, Fla.) to its first winning record since his graduation. He then served as Graduate Assistant at Franklin Pierce University (NCAA Division II) to begin his collegiate coaching career, serving as Offensive Coordinator. He helped improve the Ravels from 3.9 goals per game in 2005 to over 8.0 just one year later.

Young graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Economics from Pfeiffer University in 2004, then went on to earn his Master's of Business Administration from Franklin Pierce in 2007.

During his summers, he coaches two Atlanta-based travels teams at the U-15 and U-19 levels.
