Panther soccer adds two local midfielders

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – BSC men’s soccer head coach, Preston Goldfarb, has announced the addition of Tony Crocker and Jarred Brookins to the Panther soccer team.

Crocker is a 5-11 midfielder scheduled to transfer to BSC from Appalachian State in Boone, N.C where he played one season for the Mountaineers. Crocker is a graduate of Mountain Brook High School.  In 2006 Tony was named to the Birmingham News All-Metro team and was selected to the state high school all-star team. He also led the Spartans to a No. 4 ranking and the state quarterfinals his senior season. He was the captain of his club team, the Birmingham United Thunderbolts '89, for five seasons. The Thunderbolts won the 2006 Alabama Division I state championship after being a state finalist in 2002, 2003 and 2004. Crocker was also an Olympic Development Program (ODP) participant for five years. Tony is the son of Troy and Tina Crocker.

Brookins is a 5-8 midfielder from Vestavia Hills.  A two-year letter winner in soccer and track & cross country, Jarred was team captain of the Rebels his senior season.  He was selected to the All-Tournament team during the Birmingham Metro Tournament his senior year.  He led the team in both goals scored and assists his senior year.  Jarred received the Coach’s Award for Hard Work and Dedication his junior year, as well as the Bronze Service Award from VHHS. In addition, Jarred played 10 years with the Vestavia Steamers 91 team for which he was a starter on the 2008 Division I state championship team under the direction of Luke Whittle.Jarred is the son of Bart and Kathy Brookins. 

Tony and Jarred join Charlie Boles (FL), Nathan Haywood (AL), Clint Lum (TX), Alex Perrotta (GA), and Kyle Sherrin (AL) in the 2009 recruiting class.
