Panthers’ skid continues, losing 3-1 to Spring Hill
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The BSC Panthers’ losing streak was extended to five today as they fell in the final match of the 2008 BSC Invitational to in-state Spring Hill College 3-1 on Sunday afternoon.
BSC’s only goal of the match came in final minutes of the second half, as the Panthers were never able to get into any kind of rhythm on the offensive end of the pitch. Joe Burrage scored his first goal of the season in the 73rd minute to avoid the shut-out. All three of Spring Hill’s goals came in the second half within seven minutes of each other.
The loss drops BSC to 1-5 on the year. They will look to get back on the smiling side of the scoreboard next weekend in the BSC Fall Classic as the Panthers will host our nation’s service academies for a weekend tournament. Southern will face off with Army on Friday, September 19 at 7:30 p.m. and follow that up with an afternoon contest on Sunday the 21st with the Midshipmen of Navy at 1:30 p.m.
