Men's Soccer adds Levinson in goal for next season

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Birmingham-Southern soccer coach Preston Goldfarb has announced the addition of Alex Levinson to his roster for next season.

Levinson is a four-year letter-winner in goal for Coach Lee Miller at Chelsea High School. He received numerous awards during his high school career. Alex was named team MVP in 2008 and again in 2009. He helped his team win Metro Tournament championships in 2007 and 2009. He was named to the 2008 All-County Team, the 2009 All-Metro Team, the 2009 All-State Team and the 2009 Alabama All-Star North Team. Levinson has played club soccer for Birmingham United Soccer’s (BUSA) Elite Team which was 2008-09 Division 1 Alabama State Champions and also with BUSA’s U.S. Soccer Development Academy Teams.

His achievements off the field are equally impressive. He was named the 2005-06 “Student of the Year”, is a member of the Beta Club, Mu Alpha Theta, Chelsea Ambassadors, Youth Leadership Shelby County , Chelsea Leadership, and was Vice President of the Peer Helper Organization. He is also Class Vice President at CHHS. Alex was also crowned Homecoming King in his senior year.
Levinson plans to major in Education with a Science minor at BSC, where he will begin classes in the Fall of next year.

Alex joins Cory Gonzalez (John Carroll Catholic High School, Birmingham) in the 2010 recruiting class.
