Panthers sweep weekend, win Kyle Rote, Jr. Classic

SEWANEE, Tenn. -
The BSC men's soccer team completed the weekend sweep at the Kyle Rote, Jr. Classic with a decisive 6-0 win over the Emory & Henry Wasps in Sewanee.  With the win, the Panthers move to 4-0 on the season.

#Tony Crocker# got the Panthers on the board first, connecting with #Nicholas Reitmeier# in the 30th-minute to give BSC a 1-0 advantage into the break.

In the second half, the Panthers' offense really got going.  'Southern scored five goals in 26 minutes to bury the Wasps and claim the tournament championship.  Reitmeier got a goal for himself in the 49th-minute off a feed from #Garner Shivers#.  Shivers then scored the next three Panther goals, first off a feed from Reitmeier in the 57th-minute.  His second came in the 58th from #Tyler Evans# and the third came unassisted in the 64th-minute.  #Kyle Sherrin# got the final goal for BSC in the 75th-minute off the pass from #Jonathan Alexander#.

The Panthers dominated from start to finish, out-shooting the Wasps 28-4 on the day (Including 19-3 in shots-on-goal).  #Shachar Hovan# put in another flawless performance with two saves in 63 minutes of work, and #Charlie Boles# held the shutout with one save in 27 minutes.

The Panthers cleaned up the individual awards, and named four players to the All-Tournament team.  #Tyler Evans# was name Offensive MVP of the Classic, #Andrew Stein# was Defensive MVP, #Garner Shivers# and #Nicholas Reitmeier# were also named to the All-Tournament team.

The Panthers will travel to St. Louis to take on the Washington University Bears at 2:00 p.m. this Friday.
