Men's soccer drops 2-1 decision at Wash U

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The Birmingham-Southern men's soccer team fell 2-1 at Washington University of St. Louis today for their first loss of the season.

Harry Beddo got the Bears on the board right away, a cross came right in front of #Sachar Hovan# and sailed through in the first minute to put Washington up 1-0.

BSC got the evener in the eighth minute off a #Tony Crocker# free kick.  Right before the half, though, the Bears got back ahead thanks to a corner to Patrick McLean.  The Bears took the 2-1 advantage into the half.

'Southern did have a chance late when a red card from WU's Kevin Privalle in the 60th-minute gave the Panthers a chance to tie, but the resulting shot was
unsuccessful, sealing the win for Washington.

The Panthers were out-shot 15-8 on the day, with 15 fouls to Washington and 10 for BSC.

BSC will remain on the road this Sunday when they travel across St. Louis to take on Fontbonne University at noon.  They return home next Friday to face Rhodes in the conference opener at 6:00 p.m. at BSC Soccer Park.
