BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern (7-1) men’s soccer team continued to roll this weekend, getting their second win over an SCAC-opponent with a 2-0 shutout of the visiting Hendrix College (4-5) Warriors.
The Panthers jumped out early, in the 9th-minute, when #Nicholas Reitmeier# connected from the left side, finding #Tyler Evans# in front of the goal to put BSC up 1-0. The rest of the half saw both teams battle for control of the ball, but no more goals were scored.
The game continued at 1-0 for most of the second half as well, with the Panther defense fending off attack after attack from the Warriors. The play was physical on both sides of the pitch, with 10 Hendrix fouls and nine from ‘Southern. No one was cautioned, however.
BSC got their second goal with just three minutes remaining in the match. Tyler Evans sent the ball into #Tony Crocker#, who put the game away for the Panthers.
BSC will be on the road next week, traveling to Sewanee on October 2, and Oglethorpe on the 4th. The Panthers will return to BSC Soccer Park on October 9th at 8:00 p.m. to host the Trinity University Tigers.
