Men's Soccer doubles up Sewanee 6-3
SEWANEE, Tenn. - The Birmingham-Southern men's soccer team defeated the Sewanee Tigers 6-3 tonight to improve to 8-1 on the season.
The Panthers hung four goals on the Tigers in the first half and added two in the second to get the conference road win.
#Tony Crocker# got the offense started just 34 seconds into the match with an unassisted goal to put BSC up 1-0. Sewanee did take the lead after scoring the next two goals, but BSC tied the game in the 12th-minute when #Jonathan Alexander# scored unassisted.
#Tyler Evans# gave the Panthers the lead again in the 18th-minute when he connected with a cross from #Carter McLean#, giving BSC the 3-2 advantage. Sewanee tied the game with their final goal of the match in the 36th-minute, but Evans retook the lead again, with the game-winner, in the final minute of the first half off an assist from Alexander.
Evans wasn't done yet, scoring both the Panthers goals in the second half to put the match firmly out of the Tigers' reach. He scored in the 65th-minute from Crocker and again in the 76th from Alexander. The assist was Alexander's second on the night.
#Charlie Boles# collected five saves in his 80 minutes in goal for the Panthers. #Clint Lum# finished the match collecting one save in ten minutes.
The Panthers will travel to Atlanta on Sunday for a noon matchup with the Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels.
