BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Four Birmingham-Southern men's soccer players were named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Scholar All-South Region teams, the organization announced recently.
Senior defender Andrew Stein and junior striker Tyler Evans were named to the Second Team, while senior midfielders Carter McLean and Andrew Shelton earned Honorable Mention accolades.
Stein, a math major from Knoxville, Tenn., with a 3.79 GPA had eight shots and an assist last season. Evans, a psychology major from Panama City, Fla., with a 3.46 GPA was fifth on the team this past season with seven points (three goals, one assist) and had 32 shots (15 on-goal). McLean, an accounting major from Birmingham with a 3.90 GPA, had four shots (two on-goal) and two assists. Shelton, an accounting major from Birmingham with a 3.69 GPA, posted three assists and 11 shots (three on-goal) last season.
"This is a great tribute to our players for all their hard work both on the field and in the classroom," Head Coach Preston Goldfarb said. "These four are most deserving of this high honor."
