Late-game rally not enough as Panthers fall to Hendrix, 3-2

CONWAY, Ark.—Despite two late goals to cut the lead to one, the Birmingham-Southern men's soccer team was unable to overcome Hendrix this evening, losing 3-2 to the Warriors in Conway, Ark. BSC falls to 4-7-3 overall and 1-5-2 against SCAC opponents.

Hendrix's Duncan Keegan scored the first two goals for the Warriors, followed by a goal from Dylan Reed to give the Warriors a 3-0 lead in the first half.

The Panthers rallied with a goal in the 76th minute from junior Garner Shivers, assisted by senior Andrew Shelton, and another goal in the 89th minute, also from Shivers, this time assisted by junior Tony Crocker. BSC had a chance to tie things up with a corner kick at the 89:26 mark, but were unable to score, giving Hendrix the win.

Senior Shachar Hovan started in goal for the Panthers and played the first half, recording three saves but also allowing three goals. Freshman Alex Levinson came in for the second half and recorded four saves.

BSC stays on the road to face Rhodes College this Sunday in Memphis.
