SEWANEE, Tenn. – Junior Tyler Evans scored three goals to help the Birmingham-Southern men’s soccer team move to 2-1-1 on the season today with a 6-1 victory against University of the Ozarks in the Kyle Rote, Jr., Invitational, hosted by Sewanee.
Evans scored the Panthers’ first goal in the fourth minute of the game off an assist from sophomore Kyle Sherrin. Ozarks evened things up quickly with a goal in the fifth minute, but Sherrin scored what would be the game-winner in the 18th minute.
In the 24th minute, Evans scored again, this time with an assist from junior Tony Crocker to put the Panthers up 3-1, a lead BSC would take into the halftime break.
Sophomore Nico Reitmeier put BSC up 4-1 in the 58th minute, assisted by Crocker, and Evans scored once again for the hat trick in the 77th minute, assisted by senior Carter McLean.
Senior Kenan LeParc wrapped up the scoring in the 87th minute with a goal assisted by senior Tim Tincher.
“BSC played inspired soccer, especially after last Monday and the big upset we were dealt,” Head Coach Preston Goldfarb said. “The team responded against a good, hard-working Ozarks team and righted the ship. Hopefully, we will play like this again tomorrow against an old foe in Huntingdon College.”
The Panthers face Huntingdon tomorrow at 2 p.m.
Complete statistics from today's game will be posted here later this evening.
