BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Senior Garner Shivers scored both of the Birmingham-Southern men's soccer team's goals this evening as the Panthers defeated University of Dallas, 2-1, to open conference action.
Shivers scored both goals in the first half, in the 23rd and 35th minutes, the first one assisted by senior Nicolas Reitmeier and the second assisted by senior Tyler Evans.
The Crusaders got on the board in the 64th minute when Michael O'Donnell scored off an assist by Joey Killion.
Sophomore Sveinbo Grimsson played all 90 minutes in net and recorded two saves. For Dallas, James Kerin and Casey Shanks split time, with Kerin making four saves and Shanks making one.
BSC recorded 18 shots, seven on-goal, to Dallas' 10 shots, four on-goal. Shivers led BSC with five shots, and senior Sean Head took four.
The Panthers are back in action on Sunday, hosting Austin College at 1 p.m.
