BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Senior Garner Shivers had a goal and an assist to help lead the Birmingham-Southern men's soccer team to a 2-1 win over Sewanee, Friday evening at BSC Soccer Park.
The Panthers improved to 9-6 overall and 5-3 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference and secured a spot in next week's conference tournament, which BSC is hosting. The Tigers dropped to 7-7-2 and 2-5-1 in conference play.
BSC got two first half goals to take a 2-0 lead at halftime.

Sewanee cut the lead to 2-1 in the 88th minute when Samuel Edoung-Byo volleyed in a cross from Alec Peter.
Sophomore goalkeeper Sveinbo Grimsson recorded five saves for BSC. Sewanee starting goalkeeper Derek Williams recorded four saves in the first half but allowed the two goals to take the loss, while Conrad Bandoroff started the second half and registered one save.
