BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—The Birmingham-Southern men's soccer team ended its season Friday evening with a 2-1 loss to Centre College in the quarterfinals of the 2011 SCAC Men's Soccer Championship.
The fourth-seeded Panthers fell to 10-7, while the fifth-seed Colonels advanced to 12-5-2.
BSC sophomore Brooks Busby put the Panthers on the board in the 32nd minute, and BSC took the 1-0 lead into the halftime break.
Centre tied it up in the 58th minute on a goal by Ryan Garvey, and the Colonels went up 2-1 five minutes later on a goal by Robbe Tarver.
The Panthers were held scoreless for the remainder of the game, allowing Centre to advance to the semifinals where they will face top-seeded Trinity tomorrow at 5 p.m.
Centre out-shot BSC 14-3 overall and 6-2 on-goal. Sophomore goalkeeper Sveinbo Grimsson made four saves, and Centre keeper Chris Jackson recorded one.
