Men's Soccer shuts out Adrian, 1-0

GREENVILLE, Pa.—The Birmingham-Southern men's soccer team captured its second win of the weekend at the Thiel College Tomcat Tournament, defeating Adrian College 1-0.

The win takes the Panthers to 3-2-1 on the season. The 1-0 victory is BSC's second shutout of the year.

BSC did not find the net until the 75th minute, when junior Brynjar Arnason took a pass from senior Emil Saevarsson and shot from about 25 yards out.

While the goal was the only one of the day, the Panthers controlled the majority of the game and out-shot Adrian 8-3 on-goal, led in corner kicks 6-1, and took 17 total shots to Adrian's five.

BSC junior goalkeeper Alex Levinson played all 90 minutes and made three saves.

"It is great to get two wins on the road when you travel as far as we did," Head Coach Preston Goldfarb said. "Medaille College [Saturday's game] is a team that is receiving votes in the top 25 poll, so I think we made a name for ourselves in the northeast. To be able to capture a Sunday win the next day against a quality Adrian team makes the long trip home worth it."

The Panthers take the field again this Thursday, Sept. 20, facing Emory University at 7 p.m. at BSC Soccer Park.
