Babbin, Gonzalez earn First-Team All-SAA Soccer honors

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Senior soccer players Amanda Babbin and Cory Gonzalez were both named First-Team All-Southern Athletic Association, the league office announced this week. Eight women's players and six men's players in total were selected as All-Conference honorees.

On the women's side, Babbin, a forward from Carmel, Ind., was a First-Team selection, while senior Bailey Kimbell (Vestavia Hills, Ala.) and sophomore Jessie Sperry (Powder Springs, Ga.) were named Second-Team forwards. Senior goalkeeper Richelle Byrd (Birmingham, Ala.), senior defender M'Kayl Lewis (Keller, Texas), freshman defender Bethany Kuerten (Auburn, Ala.), senior midfielder Kelly Craft (Grayson, Ga.), and freshman midfielder Nicole Newton (Baton Rouge, La.) were all named to the Honorable Mention All-Conference Team.

Gonzalez, a defender from Birmingham, was the men's First-Team selection, and senior Brooks Busby, a midfielder from Birmingham, and senior Tobias Winter, a forward from Giessen, Germany, were named to the Second Team. Junior goalkeeper Jonas Heidrich (Nordhausen, Germany), senior defender Jeremy Evans (Panama City, Fla.), and junior midfielder Johannes Loeffler (Heitersheim, Germany) were named All-SAA Honorable Mention.
