Late overtime goal lifts Rhodes to 1-0 win against BSC

MEMPHIS, Tenn.—A penalty kick in the final minute of double overtime lifted Rhodes to a 1-0 victory against the Birmingham-Southern men's soccer team, Saturday afternoon at the Rhodes Soccer Complex in Memphis, Tenn.

BSC now stands at 7-2-1 in the 2014 campaign and 1-1 in Southern Athletic Association action. Rhodes improves to 5-5-1 overall and 2-0 in the conference.

The Panthers put more shots on goal than Rhodes, holding an 8-5 advantage in the category, led by sophomore Spencer Nichols and junior Bastian Jedliczka with two apiece.

BSC sophomore Johan Eriksson recorded four saves in the match.

Next weekend the Panthers will return home to Preston Goldfarb Field at Berylson Soccer Park, where they are 5-1-1, for a pair of conference matches, hosting Oglethorpe on Friday at 5 p.m and Berry on Sunday at noon.
