CONWAY, Ark.—The Birmingham-Southern men's soccer team gave up two second-half goals in the title game of the 2014 Southern Athletic Association Championship, losing to Berry 2-0 Sunday afternoon in Conway, Ark.
The second-seeded Panthers fell to 13-4-1, while the fifth-seeded Vikings moved to 12-6-1, winning the title with three straight upset games to earn an automatic berth to the NCAA Championship.
Christian Fulbright scored both of Berry's goals, and both were assisted by Zak Wallingford; the first was in the 56th minute and the insurance goal came in the 79th minute.
The Vikings out-shot the Panthers 14-9, and 6-2 on-goal, earning seven corner kicks to BSC's one. Senior goalkeeper Jonas Heidrich recorded four saves in goal for the Panthers.
Juniors Bastian Jedliczka and Claudio Lipp were named to the All-Tournament Team. Jedliczka scored all three of BSC's goals in the tournament, and leads the SAA with 17 total goals this season, while Lipp assisted both of the Panthers' goals in the quarterfinals on Friday against Oglethorpe.
