Panthers Pick Up Third Shutout Win in SAA Home Opener

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern men's soccer team earned its third shutout win of the season in their Southern Athletic Association home opener Saturday afternoon, topping Hendrix College 3-0.  The Panthers remain undefeated at home, improving to 6-1 overall, 1-0 in the SAA.

 

Tylan Jones (Peachtree City, Ga./College of Charleston) scored the eventual game winner in 10th minute on a pass from Dylan Rose, heading it in off of a corner kick.

 

The Panthers lead was extended to 2-0 when Brother Swagler (Birmingham, Ala./Mountain Brook HS) took a cross pass from Jackson Lynn (Homewood, Ala./Homewood HS) to the back of the net in the 33rd minute.

 

Spencer Nichols (Jacksonville, Fla./Christ's Church Academy) helped secure the win in the 87th minute.  Following a shot, he put away the rebound off the save.

 

BSC returns to action this coming Tuesday, Sept. 27 at home against Covenant College.  Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
