Men’s Soccer Drops Physical Battle with Rhodes, 1-0

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Birmingham-Southern men's soccer team moved to 7-2 overall, 1-1 in Southern Athletic Association play, Saturday with a 1-0 loss to Rhodes College in a physical defensive showdown.

 

Rhodes (3-5-1, 1-1 SAA), who scored the game winner in the 63rd minute, took just four shots.

 

Brother Swagler (Birmingham, Ala./Mountain Brook HS) led with a game-high two shots on goal.  Marvin Castellanos (Vestavia Hills, Ala./Stetson University) got the start in goal and made three saves.

 

The Panthers return home on Tuesday, Oct. 4 to face Emory University.  Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. on Goldfarb Field.
