Men’s Soccer Wins 2-1 in OT at Sewanee

SEWANNE, Tenn. – The Birmingham-Southern men's soccer team picked up its second Southern Athletic Association win of the season on the road Sunday at Sewanee. The Panthers scored with 30 seconds remaining in overtime to win 2-1 and improve to 8-4 overall on the season, 2-2 in SAA play.

Patrick Erickson (Washington, D.C./St. Stephens & St. Agnes School) scored the game winner on a pass from goalie Marvin Castellanos (Vestavia Hills, Ala./Stetson University).  Castellanos cleared a long pass all the way back to the Tigers half.  It bounced twice before Erickson put it away for his third goal of the year, first game winner.

The Panthers opened scoring in the match. Dallas Coyne (Vestavia Hills, Ala./Vestavia Hills HS) picked up his sixth goal unassisted in the 42nd minute.  BSC led through the most of the second half until Sewanee (6-6-2, 1-3 SAA) put the equalizer away in the 89th minute.

Castellanos finished with a match-high six saves.

BSC returns home Friday, Oct. 14 to take on Oglethorpe in a double-header with the women's team.  The men kickoff at 7:30 p.m.
