KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Three Birmingham-Southern men's soccer student-athletes were selected to the United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-South Region Team, the organization announced.
Junior goalkeeper Galen Curry (Birmingham, Ala./Spain Park HS), senior defender Tylan Jones (Peachtree City, Ga./College of Charleston) and junior defender Luke Hambleton (Fort Walton Beach, Fla./Choctawhatchee HS) were named to the Second Team.
Curry, a business administration major, started in 13 matches for the Panthers this season. He recorded a conference-high 75 saves and a .833 save percentage. He was also a Southern Athletic Association Second Team selection.
Jones, also a business administration major, appeared in seven games for the Panthers, starting in six of those matches. Jones was an All-SAA Second Team defender in 2017.
Hambleton, who is majoring in pre-engineering, started in all 16 matches for BSC. He led the Panthers with four assists and he took nine shots during the season. Hambleton was also an SAA All-Conference Honorable Mention.
In order to be considered as a USC Scholar All-Region player, junior or senior student-athletes must maintain a GPA of 3.3 or higher and start 50 percent of their team's games.
