Men's Tennis shuts out Hendrix, 9-0

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—The Birmingham-Southern men's tennis team swept Hendrix College at home today, 9-0, at the Ann Dielen Tennis Complex. The Panthers move to 8-2 overall and 2-0 in the Southern Athletic Association.

Seniors Christian Matthews and Tony DaMaia won at the top doubles spot, 9-7, and sophomore Patrick Hire and freshman Alex Makarenko won at two doubles, 8-0, moving to 8-1 on the season. Juniors Brian Brandt and Ben Reardon were victorious at three doubles, 8-0, remaining perfect at 8-0 on the year.

Matthews, Brandt, and Hire won at one, two, and three singles, followed by victories by Makarenko, DaMaia, and Reardon and four, five, and six singles. Makarenko is undefeated in singles action with a 10-0 mark.

The team is back on the court tomorrow, hosting Rhodes College at 9 a.m.
