BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—The Birmingham-Southern men's tennis team moved to 2-0 on the season Saturday, shutting out Point University 9-0 at the Ann Dielen Tennis Complex.
The Panthers won all three doubles points and went on to win all six singles points as well, but it wasn't an easy road according to Head Coach Kel Lang. "We very easily could have been down 0-3 after doubles play," he said. "There were some extremely close matches, but I'm proud of our guys for staying tough and competing to get the win."
Junior Patrick Hire and sophomore Alex Makarenko paired up at one doubles and won 8-6, while senior Ben Reardon and freshman Jacob Weinacker won at two doubles, 9-7. Sophomore Henry Crosby and freshman George Chunn won in the third spot, 8-6.
BSC is at home again this Monday, March 9, facing Campbellsville University at 1:45 p.m.
