ROME, Ga.—The Birmingham-Southern men's tennis team rebounded from a loss yesterday, its first of the season, with a 7-2 victory today against Berry College in Rome, Ga.
BSC moved to 6-1 overall and 1-1 in the Southern Athletic Association; the Vikings fell to 7-2 overall and 1-2 in the SAA. The Panthers are ranked 16th in the Atlantic South Region, and Berry is ranked 12th.
BSC took two of the three doubles points to start the match, with junior Patrick Hire and sophomore Alex Makarenko winning at one, 8-1, and senior Ben Reardon and freshman Jacob Weinacker winning at two, 8-6.
The Panthers proceeded to win at all but one singles spot as well, including a win at three singles by Weinacker, and a win at six singles by freshman Lee Thompson, to move both players to 7-0 on the season.
BSC is back at home tomorrow, hosting Covenant College in a make-up match at 4 p.m. at the Ann Dielen Tennis Complex.
