Men's Tennis opens season with 9-0 win over Spring Hill College

MOBILE, Ala.—The Birmingham-Southern men's tennis team opened the season on Saturday with a 9-0 victory against Spring Hill College in Mobile, Ala.

The No. 3 doubles team of junior Henry Crosby and sophomore Charlie Rowe broke serve at 7-7 all, then Crosby held serve to close out the match 9-7 and get the sweep of all three doubles matches and put BSC up 3-0.

In singles play, sophomore Jacob Weinacker was off the court first with a 6-0, 6-0 win, followed by freshman Anthony Pellegrini clinching the match with a 6-1, 6-3 victory. At the No. 1 position, junior Alex Makarenko won 6-4, 6-2, quickly followed by Lee Thompson at No. 5, senior Patrick Hire at No. 2, and Rowe at No. 6.
