Men's Tennis downs Hastings in Orlando, 7-2

ORLANDO, Fla.—The Birmingham-Southern men's tennis team picked up a 7-2 win over Hastings College to open its Spring Break trip Sunday afternoon in Orlando, Fla.

The Panthers improved to 5-3, while the Broncos fell to 2-7.

BSC took two of the three doubles matches, with senior Patrick Hire and junior Alex Makarenko winning at No. 1 and juniors Henry Crosby and David Goodloe winning at No. 3.

In singles play, Makarenko at No. 1 was first off the court, quickly followed by No. 3 Hire. Sophomore Lee Thompson clinched the match for the Panthers at No. 6 with a 6-1,6-4 victory. At No. 5, freshman Anthony Pellegrini won 6-4,6-1, and sophomore Jacob Weinacker finished off the scoring at No. 2 singles 6-3,7-5.

The Panthers return to action tomorrow with two matches in Orlando, facing Union College at 9 a.m. EDT and St. Scholastica at 4 p.m. EDT.
