Men's Tennis wins two more in Orlando

ORLANDO, Fla.—The Birmingham-Southern men's tennis team picked up two more wins today, defeating Union College 9-0 and College of St. Scholastica 8-1 at Sanlando Tennis Center in Orlando, Fla.

The Panthers moved to 7-2, and have won four straight matches.

BSC VS. UNION

  • BSC took all three of the doubles matches, with senior Patrick Hire and junior Alex Makarenko won at No. 1, sophomore Jacob Weinacker and freshman Anthony Pellegrini won at No. 2, and juniors Henry Crosby and David Goodloe won at No. 3.
  • In singles, No. 2 Weinacker was quickly off first at 6-1,6-0, followed by No. 3 Hire 6-0,6-0.
  • Next off was No. 5 sophomore Lee Thompson with a 6-0,6-0 victory, quickly followed by No. 6 sophomore Charlie Rowe at  6-0,6-0.
  • Makarenko and sophomore George Chunn completed the shutout with victories at the No. 1 and No. 5 positions.

BSC VS. ST. SCHOLASTICA

  • The Panthers won two of three doubles matches, and Makarenko was the first singles match to finish at No. 1.
  • Weinacker at No. 2 singles was the victory-clinching match, winning 6-2,6-2.
