Men's Tennis captures share of SAA regular season title

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—With a 6-3 win against Rhodes today at the Ann Dielen Tennis Complex, the Birmingham-Southern men's tennis team won a share of the Southern Athletic Association regular season championship.

The Panthers moved to 14-4 overall and 6-1 in the SAA, tying for first with Oglethorpe and No. 34 Sewanee. The Lynx fell to 9-9 overall and 4-3 in the conference.

SINGLES

  • Makarenko, Weinacker, and Hire won at No. 1, No. 2, and No. 3 singles, respectively.
  • Makarenko moves to 13-5, while Weinacker and Hire both moved to 15-3.
  • Pellegrini also won at five singles to move to 13-4 on the year.

UP NEXT

  • BSC closes out regular season action next Sunday, April 24, hosting Transylvania University at 10 a.m.
  • The Panthers will travel to Murfreesboro, Tenn., the weekend of April 29-May 1 for the 2016 SAA Championship at Old Fort Park.
