Panthers Undefeated on Day Two

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Birmingham-Southern men's tennis team defeated Clark University 6-3 and Cornerstone University 5-4 to go undefeated on day two of competition at the USTA Center.

"The team competed the hardest I have seen this year," said Head Coach Jimmy Weinacker.

The Panthers were down 4-3 against Cornerstone when Hunter Hoffmeister (Longwood, Fla./Orangewood Christian HS) at No. 5 singles won a match tiebreaker 11-9.  Anthony Pellegrini (Huntsville, Ala./Huntsville HS) then won the deciding match 19-5 in a match tiebreak at the No. 1 singles spot.

Both Pellegrini and Hoffmeister went undefeated on the day.  Pellegrini was perfect at No. 1 doubles with partner Jameson Bekaert (Johns Creek, Ga./Rivers Academy) and Hoffmeister dominated at No. 5 singles and No. 3 doubles with his partner Anthony Romano (Knoxville, Tenn./Webb HS).

BSC (4-2) concludes competition in the sunshine state Sunday when the take on Wabash.
