SEGUIN, Texas—The Birmingham-Southern cross country teams ran in their first-ever NCAA Division III Regional Championships today at Texas Lutheran University in Seguin, Texas.
The men's team ran and finished 18th, led by junior Robert Willett who finished 53rd in the field of 174 runners. The women did not run as a team but three individuals competed, led by junior Jessica Thornton with a 56th-place finish in the field of 197.
"I am very proud of the way our team battled this season and our chance to compete here at Regionals showed just how tough the are as a team," Head Coach Kenneth Cox said. "We continue to strengthen ourselves mentally and physically, and I am excited about our growth.
"This was the first regional meet for everyone on our teams and they showed that BSC deserves to be competing every year in the South/Southeast region."
