MONTEVALLO, Ala.—The Birmingham-Southern cross country teams competed at the Montevallo Falcon Classic on Saturday.
The men's team finished fifth in the field of 10 teams, led by senior Robert Willett who placed fifth with an 8K time of 26:38.17. Freshman Scott Wheat was second for the Panthers and 26th overall with a time of 28:07.88, followed by junior Christian Clesi at 32nd (28:40.12), freshman John White at 36th (28:58.11), sophomore Scotty Wild at 44th (29:32.39), and senior David Olsen at 45th (29:42.09).
The women's team had only two runners compete. Freshman Kelsey Holdbrooks placed 13th with a 6K time of 24:23.78, and freshman Katie Ann Bass was 26th with a time of 25:25.44.
"I could not be more proud of the way our teams stepped up today and competed," Head Coach Kenneth Cox said. "We had several season and personal bests today and we are excited about the way everyone is coming together."
The Panthers are back in action on Friday, Oct. 5, at the Tiger Twilight Invitational hosted by Sewanee in Sewanee, Tenn.
