MONTEVALLO, Ala.—The Birmingham-Southern women were second and the men were fourth today at the Montevallo Falcon Cross Country Classic in Montevallo, Ala.
The women were one point behind UNA, and BSC was the only Division III school in the field of seven teams on both the men's and women's sides.
BSC's top female runner was freshman Shannon Walsh, who placed sixth out of 51 runners of all division with a 6K time of 24:50.93. Freshman Chris Roberts was the Panthers' top male finisher, coming in 12th in a field of 49 runners with an 8K time of 29:17.36.
"Our women's team really stepped up and showed a lot of toughness today," Head Coach Kenneth Cox said. "It was great to see our freshmen get out and just race like we know they can. Our upperclassman have been pushing the pace in training and we have seen improvement across the entire team."
The Panthers are in action again next Saturday, Oct. 19, at the Berry Invitational in Rome, Ga.
