Women third, men ninth at Berry Cross Country Invitational
ROME, Ga.—The Birmingham-Southern cross country teams competed today at the Berry Invitational, running in a field of over 20 teams across all divisions, with the women placing third and the men ninth.
The women were third behind Georgia and Georgia Tech, and were the top non-Division I finisher. The men were ninth in the field of 22 teams.
The top women's finisher was freshman Elise Pittman, placing 22nd with a 6K time of 24:03.78, and the top men's runner for the Panthers was senior Christian Clesi at 37th with a season-best 8K time of 27:28.49.
"Our teams ran extremely well against a very challenging field," Head Coach Kenneth Cox said. "With two weeks before SAA Championship, our men and women continue to remain focused on coming together and pushing each other beyond the limit."
The Panthers will run at the 2013 Southern Athletic Association Championship on Nov. 2, also hosted by Berry College in Rome, Ga.
