BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – After finishing top 20 at the NCAA South/Southeast Regionals, both Chris Roberts (Huntsville, Ala./Huntsville HS) and Timothy McOmber (Montgomery, Ala./Montgomery Catholic Prep) will represent Birmingham-Southern at the men's NCAA Cross Country National Championships Saturday, Nov. 19. The meet takes place at E.P. Tom Sawyer State park in Louisville, Ky.
"I am extremely proud of both our seniors," said head men's and women's cross country coach Kenneth Cox. "They have worked hard throughout their time here on the Hilltop and what better way to end their collegiate cross country careers."
The pair were named all-region by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association and have been consistently powerful runners for the Panthers.
"They were our top two runners all year and set goals at the beginning for the summer to have an exceptional season along with their teammates," added Cox.
Roberts finished eighth overall at the regionals and earned second at the Southern Athletic Association championships. His personal record 8K time is 25:19, which he set at the Falcon Classic this year (Sept. 17). He finished the regionals just 22 seconds off that time.
McOmber was 17th overall at regionals and was an all-conference performer as well. He also PR'd at the Falcon Classic this year with a time of 25:41.
