Panthers Finish Fifth in Season-Opening Meet

JACKSONVILLE, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern men's cross country team finished fifth at the Jacksonville State University Struts Cross Country Season Opener on Friday.

The Panthers, who competed in the White Division with nine other schools, finished with an average time of 17:23.42 and a total score of 135. BSC was led by freshman Carson Chambliss, a native of Auburn, Ala., who finished the 5k run with a time of 16:35.60. Chambliss finished 18th among individuals in the White Division.

BSC senior Justin Peifer also finished in the top 25, placing 23rd with a time of 16:42.50.

Birmingham-Southern's next meet will be Saturday, Sept. 16 at the Montevallo Falcon Classic.
