BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Senior #Kayla Backlund# was named to the inaugural Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Softball All-Sportsmanship Team, the conference office announced today.
Coaches from each team were asked to select a player who displayed good sportsmanship this past season.
Backlund displayed good sportsmanship as well as impressive athletic ability, hitting .417 this past season with five doubles, a single-season record 10 triples, and six home runs. She also posted a team-high .791 slugging percentage, was 18-20 on stolen bases, and had a 1.000 fielding percentage. The Aurora, Colo., native is now the career triples leader with 19.
