Jena Franks named SCAC Player of the Week
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Birmingham-Southern senior Jena Franks has been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Softball Player of the Week, the league office announced today.
Franks, a shortstop from Muscle Shoals, Ala., hit .529 this week with an impressive 18 RBIs in four games against Sewanee on the road. She was 9-of-17 (.529) at the plate with two doubles and four home runs (one in each game) and a 1.353 slugging percentage.
Franks also recorded 23 total bases with a .600 on-base percentage, and was 1-of-1 on stolen bases. In the second game against Sewanee on Friday, Franks' six RBIs tied the single-game record.
Franks and the Panthers are 10-0 on the season, and are back in action on the road next week for Spring Break, taking on Northwest Florida State College and Murray State College in exhibition games, March 15 in Niceville, Fla., followed by a doubleheader against Spring Hill College, March 16, in Mobile.
