
ATLANTA, Ga. – Megan Light hit a grand slam in the bottom of the seventh to give No. 23 Emory (17-0) a 12-9 win over Birmingham-Southern (5-5) Sunday in the 3N2 Softball Invitational at the Emory Softball Field.
Joanna Jernigan scored on an Alyssa Statham sac-fly and Bethany Fronk had a two-run double to score Rucker and Berkopec in the fourth.
Emory would score four in the sixth and five in the seventh for the win. Kersthold drew a bases loaded walk to make it a 9-8 game and set up Light's grand slam in the seventh.
Deanna Creps was the pitcher of record for BSC, falling fall to 1-2. Madeleine Lowery was credited with the win in relief for Emory to improve to 2-0.
The Panthers return home to host Southern Athletic Association member Millsaps for a pair of doubleheaders scheduled for Saturday and Sunday at 12 p.m. both days.
