MARYVILLE, Tenn. – Birmingham-Southern swept its fifth straight doubleheader, winning 6-1 and 8-3 over Maryville College Tuesday at the Maryville College Softball Complex.
The win was the tenth straight for the Panthers while improving to 15-7 overall.
In game one, BSC scored a run in the first, two in the third and sixth and one in the seventh before yielding a run in the bottom of the seventh for the 6-1 win.
Alyssa Statham went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBI while and Joanna Jernigan was 2-for-3 with two RBI and run scored. Taylor Bassett went 2-for-4 with an RBI and run scored. Danielle Rucker, Bethany Fronk, and Elizabeth Ballew each had a hit.
Fronk picked up her eighth straight win in the circle in game one to improve to 12-5. Fronk struck out eight and gave up one run while scattering four hits.
Lexie Randolph was the pitcher of record in game one for Maryville allowing six runs, four earned, on nine hits with two strikeouts.
The Panthers rallied from a 2-0 deficit in game two, scoring three runs in the fifth and five in the fourth to earn the 8-3 win.
Bassett Statham, Berkopec and Deanna Creps had two RBI apiece to lead BSC. Statham and Berkopec had two hits apiece while Rucker, Fronk, Bassett and Jernigan had one hit.
Creps picked up the win in the circle for BSC, giving up three runs, two earned, on five hits with a strike out to improve to 3-2.
Kayla Alosia gave up eight runs, seven earned, and had four strikeouts to take the loss and fall to 0-7.
The Panthers remain on the road to play Louisiana College on Thursday at 3 p.m.
