BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Freshman Taylor Harkins has been named the Southern Athletic Association Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced today.
Harkins, a right-hander from Mountain Brook, Ala., got her name in the BSC record books on Saturday, throwing a no-hitter against Hendrix, the first seven-inning no-hitter since April 23, 2003. Over the four-game series against the Warriors, she made two appearances with one complete game and one shutout, facing 49 batters and giving up no runs and only five hits in 12.1 innings of work. Harkins allowed a .106 batting average and now owns a 1.31 ERA for the season.
Harkins and the Panthers play their final home games of the regular season this Wednesday, hosting in-state non-conference rival Huntingdon in a 3 p.m. doubleheader at BSC Softball Park.
