BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Sophomore Amanda Ballew has been named the Southern Athletic Association Softball Player of the Week, the league office announced today.
Ballew, an outfielder from Hoover, Ala., went 8-12 (.667) over four games this week for the Panthers, helping the squad go 3-1 with three wins against Millsaps and a loss to NCAA Division II program Montevallo. She had two doubles and a triple as well as seven RBI and 12 total bases, with a slugging percentage of 1.000 and a .615 on-base percentage. Three of Ballew's games were multi-hitters, including going 3-3 in the third game against Millsaps on Saturday. She also had multiple RBI in two of those games. Her fielding percentage was perfect from her spot in center field, with five putouts and one assist.
The Panthers are at home this Wednesday, hosting LaGrange in a 5 p.m. doubleheader, before traveling to Danville, Ky., this weekend for an SAA series against Centre.
