BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Sophomore Taylor Harkins has been named the Southern Athletic Association Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced today.
Harkins, a right-hander from Mountain Brook, Ala., was 3-0 in the circle this week with four appearances, helping BSC go 6-0 on the week and move into first place in the SAA standings. She threw three complete games, two of those shutouts, pitching a total of 18 innings. Harkins gave up 11 hits and only one earned run for a 0.39 ERA, and struck out 20 batters with only three walks and an opponent batting average of .159. She also picked up her first save of the year in game one against Centre on Saturday.
The Panthers are at home Wednesday and Thursday for non-conference doubleheaders against Agnes Scott College and Talladega College, and then travel to face No. 9 Emory this Saturday in Atlanta.
