BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Sophomore Taylor Harkins has been named the Southern Athletic Association Pitcher of the Week for the second straight week, the league office announced today. It is Harkins' third Pitcher of the Week honor this season.
Harkins, a right-hander from Mountain Brook, Ala., went 3-0 this week with four appearances. She threw three complete-game shutouts against Agnes Scott, Talladega, and No. 9 Emory. Harkins gave up nine total hits, including a one-hitter against Talladega and a two-hitter against Emory, while giving up only two walks in 18.2 innings with 18 strikeouts. She gave up no extra-base hits, posting an ERA of 0.00, and allowing opponents to hit only .138 against her.
Harkins and the softball team, which is 22-6-1 on the season, are at home this weekend for the final homestand of the year, hosting Sewanee in noon doubleheaders both Saturday and Sunday at BSC Softball Park.
