Beck, Bassett, Statham earn NFCA All-Region honors

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Freshman Micaela Beck and seniors Taylor Bassett and Alyssa Statham have been named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Region Teams, it was announced today.

Beck was a First-Team selection, and Bassett and Statham were named Third-Team All-Atlantic Region.

Beck had a stellar freshman campaign in 2015, being named Southern Athletic Association Newcomer of the Year as well as First-Team All-Conference. The designated player from Winfield, Ala., ranked inside the top five in a bevy of statistical categories in the conference, including leading the league in home runs (11) and total bases (96), and ranking second in hits (52) and RBIs (41). Beck was also third with a .701 slugging percentage and fifth with 11 doubles, and hit .380 for the year which ranked 10th in the league.

Statham, a first baseman from New Market, Ala., joined Beck on the SAA First Team after leading the league with a .759 slugging percentage and 48 RBIs, which also ranks her 22nd in the nation. She was also second in the conference with eight home runs and 82 total bases, and third with 34 runs scored and 27 walks.

Bassett, a shortstop from Orlando, Fla., received Honorable Mention All-Conference honors this season, hitting .397 which was fifth in the SAA and leading the league with 16 doubles and a .536 on base percentage, which ranks 35th in the nation. She was also second with 28 walks and fourth with 38 RBIs.
