LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Trine University's Danielle Ray and Birmingham-Southern College's Savannah Lee (Lascassas, Tenn./Oakland HS) captured Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division III National Pitcher and Player of the Week honors.
Ray, a freshman right-hander for the undefeated (16-0) and fourth-ranked Thunder, had a win or a save in all six games she appeared during the week. She beat two top-10 teams (Luther and Messiah), allowing just one earned run in each. For the week, the Badin High graduate went 3-0 with three saves, six walks, 30 strikeouts and a 1.37 earned-run average.
Lee, meanwhile, hit three homers in three at-bats — off four pitches — in a 6-0 win over Millsaps. After that, the Majors attempted to intentionally walk the Oakland High product four times in the third game of the Southern Athletic Conference series. For the week, the Lascassas, Tenn., native hit four home runs and had seven runs batted in with a 1.357 slugging percentage and a .556 on-base average.
