BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern softball team makes its run for a conference title this weekend at the 2018 Southern Athletic Association Tournament April 19-22 in Chattanooga, Tenn. BSC (26-13) finished the regular season 13-5 to earn the No. 2 seed in the tournament.
"I feel pretty good about where we are right now at this point in the season," said Head Coach Kimball Cassady. "We have the talent and we are healthy, so now we just have to go leave it on the field. The only thing we can do is be us, stay controlled, take it one game at a time, and not worry about who our opponent is."
The Panthers will face seventh seeded Sewanee in the first round. BSC just swept the Tigers 10-0, 12-1, and 16-5 in their three-game series. They are 2-0 all-time when facing Sewanee in the SAA tournament.
If they can close the door on the Tigers, BSC will take on the winner between No. 3 Hendrix College and No. 6 Millsaps College in the quarterfinals. BSC swept Millsaps in the regular season and won their series against Hendrix 2-1.
Games will be held at Frost Stadium at Warner Park. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students under 18 and seniors (65 and older). Students, faculty, or staff from any participating institution is free with school ID. Weekend passes are also available at $10 for adults and $5 for children.
